Chapter Two: The Secret Location of the Durmstrang Institute

The Durmstrang Institute is famous for a lot of wonderful things, and very much rightly so; this great institution of learning has carved its own unique mark in the practice of Ethical Magic (as opposed to the proliferation of the more tragic development of Occult Magic). While most of the European magical community may be considered to have grown a general feeling of resentment towards authoritative religious figures at that time, especially that of the Latin Rite and the Chair of Saint Peter, many of the peace-loving, legitimate witches and wizards have decided to migrate to the various regions of the continent where it is safe to be themselves instead of sulking about their sordid situation.

As the medieval times unfolded with more fruitful events that greatly aided in the development of the main cornerstones of the Renaissance period, there are many scholars of witchcraft quite still who have decided to form a systematic method of inquiry into the tarnishing effects of the Occult and the several indications of Demonic "substances" that were clearly the main reasons for the motivation of the cruelty of the Witch Trials.

Aside from gaining popularity in expelling the infamous character of the villainous Gellert Grindelwald for his dangerous motives to pursue his research on the subject, the Durmstrang Institute has already prided itself with its primordial focus in the development of knowledge and the identification of the potential weaknesses of the Dark Arts (inclusive of the realm of the Occult), with such reputation turning the Institute into a renowned school that has enough competence in the instructional design of the Defense Against the Dark Arts, achieved mainly by the fully integrated and specialist courses in Martial Magic and Dueling in its curriculum, among many other key features that fully developed its expertise on the matter over time.

The founding of the Durmstrang Institute by the great Bulgarian witch Nerida Vulchanova was a mighty testament to the bitter legacy of the long and painful Witch Trials that was begun, and triggered out of his own cunning, by no less than Lucifer the Devil himself. This is the curse within the faith contained in the Old Testament, aside from the many identifiable defects in the mixture of both pagan and Abrahamic beliefs, two intellectual forces that resulted into the chaos of its own created disorder. For Satan, his well-planned escapegoat involves the act of casting all the faults of the many darker materials and inglorious stain to the good of the substances unto the practice of all competent forms of sorcery as a whole, regardless of who was actually practicing it.

Many of the magical communities that has fled for their lives have reportedly been cognizant of what must begin to happen, and it was all recorded through the best efforts of the subject of Divination, despite being a lesser known field of inquiry in the discipline of Magic. In addition, there had been a legend circulating about the Witch of Endor's participation in Lucifer the Devil's wrath because of her apparent betrayal of their agreed contract happening many years before the birth of the Savior, but that is not yet confimed by any means to be true.

But these prophecies have not been fully discovered, despite the best efforts of Professor Albus Dumbledore, who then holds the academic chair of Transfiguration in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Some of the witnesses has said that these accounts have been burned to get rid of the evidence; others have simply dismissed the event as a mere legend with no actual substantive value.

Yet, Durmstrang remained faithful and continued to specialize in the Dark Arts, in spite of being criticized for not admitting muggle-borns to its roster of students. It was common knowledge that the historical wrongs committed during the era of the Witch Trials have left a deep wound that has fueled the development of hurtful slurs against muggle-borns, with the insulting usage of the so-called "mudbloods" being considered as the most offensive.

In modern Ethical Magic parlance, however, the prejudice against muggle-borns, and all the related words of insults, has been used as a means to initiate bullying, mainly the practice being developed in the period where the hatred against good-natured Magic had gradually subsided, with those involved in the Occult effectively being suppressed, and the good of ethics is starting to manifest itself anew. Because of the injurious effects propelled by the past, most ethical members of the magical community, however, has felt a strong sense of superiority against the civilization of "weak" Muggles who have no extraordinary powers of their own.

Durmstrang Institute's whereabouts had always been hidden from public sight. Many believed that the school was situated from another dimension, mainly because its founder was keeping the secrecy of the School's emphasis in Defense Against the Dark Arts totally repressed from common knowledge, and there is a veil that conceals its doors with elaborate passwords needed to access its premises. But in this early portion of the fictional emphasis of a brewing conflict, nothing else can be confirmed with certainty just yet.
