Chapter Six: The Gryffindor Decibel Equivalency Theorem
During the inevitable rise of the era of the coven of powerful vampires known as the Volturi, when their kind significantly became populous (and later influential) within the area of the European continent, one of "the four most brilliant wizards and witches of all time," Godric Gryffindor, was gaining prominence as the leading expert and authority in magical Duelling. He has written many books about the subject, with the letters of his text focusing mostly in the use of "strategic" Wandlore in gaining advantage in combat, particularly in the magical spells and the corresponding development of its offensive and defensive light (later on richly developed as a separate field of study called Wandlore Optics).
In one of his postulates, where he has gradually discovered the metaphysical values of the magic spells in its relative predisposition to the polarization with materials used in Wand Reproduction (in order to adequately manufacture more capable magic wands), the general equation for the cardinal rule of Wandlore Optics (formally called in the discipline as the Gryffindor Decibel Equivalency Theorem) has been determined to be:
Light + Decibel = (Spell + Chants) +/- (Wand Motion + Occult Values + Neutrality + Command Strength)
In the preceding equation, Godric Gryffindor's Theorem has equated the resultant wandlore light from the nature of the magical wand and the Decibel of the miraculous Chants to be of the same theoretical value, and that the expanded equation will reveal the equilibrium of the spells and chants (regardless of the motivation for the desired "magical or miraculous event" in Dueling done within the same context of Wandlore) to be of equal sum with the commands used to Summon the decibel of the magical spell, and that its related strength depends on the quality of the command used and the motion of the wand to more appropriately dispense the power of light.
It was a revolutionary hypothesis at that time; many are opposed to the main categorization of the theory, historically shown within the documents produced by the Assembly of Truthful Wandmakers in which they denounced the said equivalency to the intrinsic values of the strength of the wand as opposed to the quantified decibel of the Command used for the spell. Many of the practitioners of Wandlore rejects the main proposition of the Theorem, for the wand itself solely determines the quality of its spells, that is why the "wand always chooses the wizard" as it was mostly argued. The Wizarding World was not inclined to deviate fully from the prescriptions of the Classical Theory of Wandlore and the associated principles of the Wand Motion in the Acoustics of Magical Spells.
While contradiction to the Theorem continued to persist, the corresponding opposition to Godric Gryffindor's groundbreaking equation has never deterred him from pursuing the theory in the development of duelling lights despite the clear challenges of the times; and while it was widely unpopular, there was no law that barred him from further exploring the undiscovered truth about the true nature of the magical wands.
In most cases involving his work, Gryffindor was mostly confronted by conflicting commercial interests and most of his legal battles in the Wizengamot was featured prominently in his involvement in money claims rooted from the "desecration of the Wand," and the majority of the cases were seeking relief to completely outlaw his methods of inquiry. The Wizengamot has ruled with finality that commercial interests can never be permitted to supplant "acadenic endeavors" and that actual damage must be presented in standard rubics in a "clear language" outside the mere allegation of "simple desecration."
In fact:
The Chairman of the Appeals Chamber, speaking for the Wizengamot, also wrote in the opinion that "desecration must tantamount to any severe trespass on the values of the tradition and its convention, but it cannot be enforced when academic inquiry eventually requires it. Freedom of knowledge takes precedence in most cases when it is warranted for the common good, however, with the compelling exception of the mandatory application of Ethics and morals that must be clearly demonstrated in the case under consideration."
Hence, Godric Gryffindor's relentless efforts has paved the way for an effective Duelling style in Wandlore, and has since then became the icon of his legacy as the Hogwarts teacher who values courage, determination, chivalry, and strength of heart. The House he founded in that renowned School continue to produce some of the greatest Aurors in contemporary time, including no less than the legendary Harry Potter himself.
